  • 1/2 cup candied cherries
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt


  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the dried fruit, nuts, cherries, sugar, flour, butter, egg, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt. Mix until the ingredients are well combined and the batter is thick and sticky.
  2. Transfer the batter to a greased pudding mold or a small baking dish.
  3. Place a piece of parchment paper or aluminum foil over the top of the mold, making sure it is well-sealed. Tie a piece of string around the mold to hold the paper in place.
  4. Place the mold in a large pot of boiling water and steam the pudding for 2-3 hours, making sure to keep the water level constant.
  5. Carefully remove the mold from the pot and let it cool for 10 minutes.
  6. To serve the pudding, unmold it onto a serving plate and slice it into wedges. You can serve the pudding with a dollop of whipped cream or a splash of brandy, if desired.
