What Is Cranberry Sauce?

Cranberry sauce is an important part of the traditional Christmas meal for many people because it provides a tart and flavorful contrast to the rich and savory dishes that are typically served at this time of year.

What Can I Use The Cranberry Sauce For?

Roasted turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes can all be quite heavy, and the  sauce helps to balance out these flavors with its tangy and slightly sweet taste. Additionally, cranberry sauce is a festive and colorful addition to the Christmas dinner table, and it is often associated with the holiday season. For these reasons, many people consider sauce to be an essential part of their Christmas meal.

Here is a simple recipe for cranberry sauce that you can use for your Christmas dinner:

Ingredients

  • 1 (12 oz) bag fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup white sugar*
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, sugar, and water. Stir to combine.

Step 2

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.

Step 3

Once the mixture comes to a boil, reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries have burst and the sauce has thickened.

Step 4

Remove the sauce from the heat and let it cool to room temperature.

Step 5

Serve the cranberry sauce with your Christmas dinner. Enjoy!

*Note: You can adjust the sweetness of the sauce by adding more or less sugar, according to your preference. You can also add other flavors to the sauce, such as orange zest or cinnamon, if you like. Experiment with different variations to find the one that you like best.
